An expression of self
A work in progress
What persona are you?
Or fun-loving socialite
A mix of everything
Strong, powerful and poised
My message to the world
Personal style is an expression yet we’re quick to pigeon-hole each other into categories. Whether it’s to understand an individual or limit their creativity, they can never truly be defined. Constantly evolving with no constraints, this is a friendly reminder to be authentic, 100% you. Many bloggers have a distinct style, this led me to consider my own, but in all honesty, I didn’t know where to begin. “What’s my personal style?” kept running through my mind and that’s when it hit me, I define my own style, I don’t conform to the norm. I do as I please with happiness at the core of every decision, we’ll call it T-Chic.
You know it’s a winning combination
Does my personality shine through?
Fascination with colour
Obsession with comfort
Mixed with a hint of elegance
And a pinch of sassiness
An untamed energy
One word shining
There’s consistency with my style and that’s through colour, but that’s my own opinion I needed a second impression. This led me to ask a select few to define my style, interestingly colourful was a consistent reply. I then proceeded to look through old photos, before fashion peaked my interest, I noticed a pattern, colour was boldly present. Taking risks with styling would be an understatement, one ensemble that stood out involved mixing silky textures with dark floral prints and statement earrings. Another involved clashing bright colours and checked patterns, the outfit was the epitome of throw something on and leave. I can honestly say I still cherish every outfit because I rocked it with my own style. Without mistakes, we can’t grow, I never let fear or the opinion of others dictate my actions and neither should you.
For those who need a style refresh, currently stuck in a rut, break your rules by embracing a new trend, colour or print you never thought suited you. SS18 is the season to break free, the catwalks introduced fun-loving trends which made my inner child smile. Now the high streets and online shops are full of bright crayon colours, polka dots, maximalist prints and flirty florals. Today wear that purple lipstick or fresh prince inspired shirt and anything else you’re second-guessing. If it makes you happy, rock it with confidence and a bold smile.
