The Class Of 2016 Graduation

I graduated.
All the hard work
Sleepless nights
Caffeine-filled library trips
Researching until no end
Meeting interesting people
Exploring the city
I did
For myself
And my parents.

After three years of hard work, obstacles, and countless library sessions, it amounts to this day called graduation. The day was full of glamour, laughter, and numerous photo opportunities, although it was a day of celebration, it made me think what’s next? We get taught to go to university and get a job, but no-one ever speaks about how difficult it is for graduates to obtain a job. We’re meant to have experience, knowledge of certain software and not forgetting the burden of paying back our debts.

Although my parents never forced university on me, I choose it for myself as it seemed like the right option at the time, especially as all my friends were going down that path. I know it was difficult for my mother to send me all the way to Nottingham, but the experience grew me as an individual, personal growth can never be a bad thing. I have to thank my mother for everything that she has done for me. My rock during the obstacles and my heart during the celebrations. Today her child makes her exceptionally proud. Let this always be the case, I do it all for her, to repay her back for all the sacrifices, difficult moments and most importantly to bring a smile on her face.

I’m feeling eternally blessed, as I have received a degree in BA (Hons) Media Studies with Communications. Through the university experience, I’ve also made lifelong friendships and a solid support system. Thank you to everyone that sent me congratulatory messages, I appreciated all the kind words. Well done to everyone, we made it, class of 2016 we should all be proud of our achievements. Praises to the Almighty for all the blessings, I can’t wait to open the next chapter.

What does graduation mean to you?

Until next time, stay blessed and classy,
