October Reflections

Where do I even begin? October has been a crazy month, jam-packed with various events, projects and celebrations. The phrase work hard, play hard was in full effect, socialising and networking was a priority this month, keeping bonds strong and meeting new people in the process. Looking forward to November, focus is required, I wish to make the remainder of the year productive that my future-self looks back and smiles at my determination.

So, what did I actually get up to you may wonder, well, let me break it down for you

1. Head Start Program
The Hospital Club in association with Tomorrow's People organised The Head Start Program that allowed ten selected individuals a work placement in their chosen industry. Honestly, the whole experience was amazing, I got to intern with footwear brand Butterfly Twists in their marketing department. One thing I loved about the company was their work environment, it was laid-back, full of banter and incredibly hard-working people where everyone felt equal. It was a great feeling to get praised for my photography and eye for detail by both the e-commerce and marketing department. I was regularly tasked with producing photography for social media platforms, which resulted in improving my flatlay and street style skills. In addition to the placement, every Friday was training which involved different industry speakers giving an insight into their roles during the morning sessions. The afternoon consisted of working to a creative brief that required everyone (in pairs) to create a short video showcasing diversity in the creative industries. Thank you to everyone I met during this experience, I learned so much, refined my online presence (especially with that trip to the LinkedIn offices) and have a better idea of my career options.

2. Birthdays
soul sister from another mister
turned 23
a week older than me
busy yet still had to represent
turning up for the kid
fast forward a week
it's my turn to celebrate
dinner and party
you know the situation
but that wasn't the end
merely two of the celebrations
still one more to go
talented twins from north
you may have heard of them
they go by the name j-unity
full of positivity
more life
more blessings
that's how you end october
with style

There was plenty of other occasions, seeing Joey Bada$$ perform live, supporting a DJ at his Halloween event, photo shoot sessions but birthdays and placements were dominating my month.

November Goals
1. Increase engagement on Twitter and Instagram
2. Publish regularly blog posts
3. Collaborate with two creatives
4. Complete a draft version of untitled project
