Dubai Diaries

I see my path, but I don't know where it leads. Not knowing where I'm going is what inspires me to travel it. - Rosalia de Castro

The land of the rich and hard working
Fit for royalty
Can I be a tourist in your city?
What're your hidden gems?
I want to explore every place
I'm full of curiosity
Can you answer all my questions?

They say travel more, it will open your mind to new heights. My adventures in Dubai were a balance of exploring the city and taking a much-needed rest. As I write this looking upon the view of Marina beach, reflecting on my short time in a country that was on my mother's bucket list, we truly enjoyed our experience. You're the prettiest of flowers, I cannot complain, learning all about your beauty was such a wonderful time. But hold up pause, take a moment, set the truth free. Though I was sitting in a foreign country, my mind kept lingering back to home. Phone continuously buzzing, the energies of others knocking at my door, stressing me out, ruining the first holiday (in an unvisited country) since finishing university, is that fair? On the beach that is my playground, telling the ocean my secrets, let it listen, allowing it to wash away my concerns, being at peace with myself as life is too short to be filled with anxiety.

The temperatures in August were hot and humid, but look beyond the heat, the city comes alive in the evening. You can step out and not feel like you're melting. There's an array of things to do, you just need to know where to look. In comparison to the United Kingdom, Dubai is a clean beautiful city, no chewing gum in sight, rubbish on the floor or graffiti on the buildings. It was a refreshing trip, just make sure you have enough money to experience various activities. One thing I will miss is the good food, everything tasted fresh and delicious. I was reunited with my childhood favourite, dates. Culturally they have played a key role in Middle Eastern cuisine and rituals surrounding hospitality.

  2. Dubai looks freaking amazing! I don't think I could handle the heat but it's still a very nice place xx

    1. It was amazing, the heat reminded me of India so it wasn't too much of a shock. I would definitely visit again.
