The Classic Shirt (With A Twist)

Simplicity in character, in manners, in style; in all things the supreme excellence is simplicity. - Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

Oversized, empathised sleeves, deconstructed, these are just a few examples of how the classic blouse is customised for this season’s biggest trend. Button up shirts are no longer only associated with the workplace, you can take your daytime look, switch a few pieces and instantly mingle with the evening crowd. Recently I’ve been obsessed with the blouse and boot combo, I even wore the duo twice during London Fashion Week. A blouse can be a focal point of an outfit or just a mere accessory, the choice is yours, I’ve got a few outfits that could work for different events.

As I was going through my wardrobe, I discovered a pair of culotte-inspired pants I tried a new style, usually, when it comes to trousers, I opt for a form fitting pair. I was surprised that I strangely liked the flared ends on me. I adore seeing culotte outfits on my feed on Instagram and Pinterest, however, I was unsure if it would suit me and was pleasantly surprised. I chose a laid-back outfit that would be great on a daily basis. When I’m styling an outfit, I like matching items, in this instance, the shirt and trousers are similar tones, as are the heels and t-shirt. I paired some white pointed heels to give the look a chicer style.

Let the feminine side shine in a subtle way. As spring is on the horizon I decided to style my printed side-slitted dress. Keeping it simple yet blogger worthy attire, I opted for a monochrome look with side swept hair. This style reminded me of a modern Asian, who would typically wear kurta pajama inspired outfits. I paired the dress with velvet black leggings and a laced white ruffled blouse as an accessory to the look. I’m loving my new Zara heels, that I’m pairing them with most outfits, as I believe it is a timeless style.

What are your thoughts on the shirt trend?

Until next time, stay blessed and classy,

  1. Love love love these looks! I'm such a classic shirt fiend :') Have to say, you really suit those slightly flared pants - I also always opt for form fitting pairs, but might have to give something like those a whirl! That final shot of you is perfect btw, I love the bow detailing on that shirt <3
