Outfit Roundup | 2016

Create your own visual style... let it be unique for yourself and yet identifiable for others. - Orson Welles

Trends change quicker than Taylor Swift's relationship status, but style is timeless. Once you find your personal flair, the world is your oyster. It's commonly known if you dress well, look approachable, and work hard in your field, more opportunities tend to be open for you. Within the first seven seconds of meeting someone, an impression is made. Understanding your style is crucial to giving yourself an advantage of making a strong positive first impression.

Designers reveal exciting new creations each season, continuously pushing boundaries and stepping upon new sartorial grounds. A/W16 embraced the 1980s style, whether it was wide-legged chinos, gigantic belts or emphasised sleeves on blouses and tops, the style stormed across runways around the globe. Other major fashion trends we all saw were stripes, velvets, and bustiers wore as outerwear style as pictured in many Kim Kardashian-West photographs. Looking forward to the new year, the trends being introduced are seemingly chic and appropriate for a busy working lady, who wants to add an extra oomph to her work attire. If you're brave to pull off bright colours, this spring the bold suits are being introduced (though not all offices will allow employers to wear bright colours). Let the suit do the talking by taking the minimalistic approach when styling the outfit. If that's too bold, try the long-line blazer instead, paired with slim-fit trousers brings attention to the oversized blazer. Moving away from the gigantic belts, if you want to show your figure, try adding a skinny belt to clinch the style together and show your figure.

Looking back at my style choices during the past year, I decided to do an outfit roundup for 2016. I must admit, whilst looking back at my photographs two things occurred to me, I need to take more full-length images, rather than ordinary selfies. Secondly, I need to learn how to pose, I never actually know what to do, in my opinion, I just stand there awkwardly. Fashion for me in 2016 was full of colour, bodycon dresses, and minimalist styling. I'm still trying to hone into my personal style, but for now, I'm enjoying myself, sometimes I'll dress like a girl boss similar to Sophia Amoruso. Other occasions my inner thug comes out, and I embrace the culture by reaching for my Nikes or Filas, paired with my signature go-to plain black cap. It's time to jump into my outfit inspirations of 2016, I'd love to know which ones are your favourite.
