National Best Friends Day

I cannot even imagine where I would be today were it not for that handful of friends who have given me a heart full of joy. Let's face it, friends make life a lot more fun. - Charles R. Swindoll

Most of us have experienced our inner critic bashing us for the littlest of things, whether it's "you shouldn't have eaten that extra slice of cake" or "you don't look naturally pretty, go wear make-up." We need to be kinder towards ourselves, criticism hurts, and leads to feelings of sadness and worthlessness. It's national best friends day, so let's all appreciate the genuine friendships that we surround ourselves with. It's time to celebrate everyone who's been there with us through the rollercoaster of events - the good, the bad and the unmentionable moments.

You're my rock, you possess great qualities: hard-working, respectful, business minded, encouraging, and the list goes on. I appreciate that you stand with me through everything and we stand together no matter the obstacles. You tell me things how they are and never sugar coat anything just to make me feel happy. You support me and in turn, I'm turning into a young queen, independent lady, and business woman. Thank you for being your wonderfully weird self, and giving me a sense of security - I know that you'll always be here to protect me, plus you're the apple of my eye.

Hey gurrrrl, I've seen you go from a final year student to a hard-working woman saving for her dream career, business and lifestyle. Not only that, you understand me on a relatable level, we both adore music, culture and quirkiness. You have great style, whether it's tom-boy, or fashionably chic - you own it like a boss. Your drive motivates me only to do better, you and Izzy are my real models, you're both older than, made mistakes and have different experiences that I learn from. Thank you for being you, you're awesome, don't be too hard on yourself.

Mother hen, howdy. Autocorrect will never love you, but we will, haha. You're a strong, independent, and driven woman, you've achieved some milestones in life: from passing your driver's test, to moving out and owning your own home. You have a great personality and always give me something to laugh at, you're protective over Mez and I and I appreciate the great friendship that we have. I'm grateful that we met through the Marvell street team and bonded over our love for music. Thank you for being unapologetically yourself and not forgetting, girl you're sassy as hell, do your thang sister.

I appreciate all my genuine ones around me, you're all located in different cities, but I adore the memories that we have together, whether in person or online. Thank you for the motivation, advice and general daily banter that we have. I couldn't mention everyone otherwise that list would never end, for now here's my small circle of sanity. Thank you all for keeping me grounded, love you all.

Who would you like to appreciate this national best friends day and why?

Until next time, stay blessed and classy,
