Outfit Of The Day | King and Queen of Lilac

Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening. - Coco Chanel

Though we're currently in the midst of deadline season, I had the weekend to spend with genuine people, great food, and celebrating a milestone birthday. Happy Birthday, Auntie! Whether it's my family or the family of my significant other, it's an occasion full of positivity, prayers, and overall happiness. I love being able to experience Zimbabwean culture. Obviously, I have to mention the delicious food. I'm a foodie at heart, I love trying new things, and usually, I'm very impressed, but that's a topic for another blog post. Let's get back on topic, props go to Divisé Maison for the great photography and capturing the moments.

As we travelled from Nottingham to Northampton,  I particularly enjoyed the peaceful car journey, perhaps because I always seem to fall asleep on every journey. We walked into the beautifully decorated venue as rebels with our hoodies and trainers - everyone was running late, and I thought Asian timing was bad - but luckily we matched when it came to timing. Once the venue was setup, we changed into our outfits and became glamorous visions of purple. The theme of the celebration was purple, which connotes royalty, power, and wealth, so hey, I'm not complaining, it simply showcases some of our values.

Despite getting the memo of the theme colour weeks in advance, the day before the event, we were seen searching all retail rails for formal dresses. Let's just say it was definitely a mission, as not many purple dresses were about, and if by chance we found a dress it was far too casual. After about an hour we finally found the dress for the occasion at Dorothy Perkins, and surprisingly I wasn't the one who choose it, it was my boyfriend. To my surprise he actually has great fashion taste, usually, when I ask him anything relating to fashion or help me pick an outfit, he brushes it off with his usual line, I'm not good at that stuff. Well, it doesn't hurt to try, as most would say practice makes perfect. I now adore these piece, I wouldn't usually go for shimmery material so it was great to try something new. Thank you to my other half on the selection. One thing I need to get better at decision making, as I'm usually that person who'll stand in front of numerous options and can't decide on one. I want them all is that not an option? I'm an indecisive person, who else can relate to this, or am I the only one?

    1. Aww thank you dear, it was by luck that we found it. That's very true, I wouldn't usually go for glittery dresses, but this one caught my attention. :)
